Seeds of roses: Seed hips are not produced by all roses and not all of produced seeds will turn out to be good ones.

Planting roses: To plant roses which have been obtained from a nursery first water the rose, and then remove it from the pot. If the rose is in a paper pot cut off the bottom and remove the sidewalls so that the fine, new white feeder roots of the growing plant might be preserved.
