Making spirits happy: To please the spirits of the dead many rich Romans grew huge rose gardens to provide petals for their grave sites.
Innocence dance:Young men and women in early Athens would put on a crown of roses during feasts and then to symbolize the innocence of the Golden Age they would dance naked around the temple of Hymen. Relatives of the rose: Roses are in the same plant family as plums, apples, and almonds.
