Planting roses: To plant roses which have been obtained from a nursery first water the rose, and then remove it from the pot. If the rose is in a paper pot cut off the bottom and remove the sidewalls so that the fine, new white feeder roots of the growing plant might be preserved.
Friends in the rose garden:Roses like to have other companion plants such as garlic, onions, marigolds, mignonettes, and thyme in the garden with them. Get well flowers: Flowers are a great way to let someone who is ill, or just feeling blue, know you're thinking of him, even if you can't visit him in person. They're not only a terrific way to brighten up a hospital room, but can ease the loneliness of recovering at home. They are a simple, sincere and unobtrusive way to lift spirits, bring a smile to a tired face or brighten up a room for someone who is under the weather.
