Meanings of rose colors: In Victorian times flowers had assigned meanings, but even then there was much discrepancy. Today there are so many flowers and colors that this tradition no longer applies. Red roses are traditionally associated with romantic love, but this is not a universal rule by any means.
Forbidden flower:Clement of Alexandra forbade Christians to adorn themselves with roses because they were thought to be a symbol of paganism, orgy, and lust. Apple blossom garnish: The internet advises that apple blossoms are nice to use to garnish fruit dishes but they should only be eaten in moderation because they may contain cyanide precursors.
