Planting roses: To plant roses which have been obtained from a nursery first water the rose, and then remove it from the pot. If the rose is in a paper pot cut off the bottom and remove the sidewalls so that the fine, new white feeder roots of the growing plant might be preserved.
Beginning the rose garden:Early spring is the best time to put out roses grown in nursery containers and late winter is the best time to plant bare-root roses. Flowers make intimate connections. The presence of flowers leads to increased contact with family and friends.
