Named for fighters: Gladiolus flowers got their name because the leaves of the plant were shaped like a sword and made them think of the Roman gladiators.

Keep flowers away from sun and drafts: It is not a good idea to put your arrangement in the sun after receiving it. Growing flowers require sunshine for maturation, but cut flowers will fade much faster if exposed to heat and direct sunlight.
