Poinsettias are not poisonous: Scientific research from The Ohio State University has proved the poinsettia to be non-toxic to both humans and pets. All parts of the plants were tested, including the leaves and sap.
Named for fighters:Gladiolus flowers got their name because the leaves of the plant were shaped like a sword and made them think of the Roman gladiators. Flowers become fruits: For the higher plants, seeds are the next generation, and serve as the primary means by which individuals of a species are dispersed across the landscape. After fertilization, a flower develops into a fruit containing the seed(s).
