Roses in France: The French, especially the town of Rouen, embraced the cultivation of roses after the King of Navarre brought his wife rose bushes when he returned from The Seventh Crusade.
Named for fighters:Gladiolus flowers got their name because the leaves of the plant were shaped like a sword and made them think of the Roman gladiators. Keep flowers away from sun and drafts: It is not a good idea to put your arrangement in the sun after receiving it. Growing flowers require sunshine for maturation, but cut flowers will fade much faster if exposed to heat and direct sunlight. To keep flowers fresh longer, place them in a location away from sun and drafts.
