Planting roses: To plant roses which have been obtained from a nursery first water the rose, and then remove it from the pot. If the rose is in a paper pot cut off the bottom and remove the sidewalls so that the fine, new white feeder roots of the growing plant might be preserved.
Flower power:In the 60's hippies would put flowers in the rifle barrel of soldiers guns as they stood at attention. Medicinal uses of the rose: Long ago rose petals were used to control bleeding because they contain an astringent called tannin.
