Meanings of rose colors: In Victorian times flowers had assigned meanings, but even then there was much discrepancy. Today there are so many flowers and colors that this tradition no longer applies. Red roses are traditionally associated with romantic love, but this is not a universal rule by any means.

After fertilization, a flower develops into a fruit containing the seed(s). Medicinal poinsettia: During the middle ages people used the poinsettia flower as a purgative to aid in the elimination of black bile and melancholy.
