Symbolic meanings: Many flowers have important symbolic meanings in Western culture. The practice of assigning meanings to flowers is known as floriography.
Flowers for food:Sunflower buds taste similar to artichokes but taste bittersweet after the flower opens. Noble flowers: The four noble plants of the ancient Chinese were the Chrysanthemum, the Orchid, the bamboo, and the plum, and therefore only the upper class Chinese were permitted to grow them in their gardens.
