Medicinal poinsettia: During the middle ages people used the poinsettia flower as a purgative to aid in the elimination of black bile and melancholy.
Noble flowers:The four noble plants of the ancient Chinese were the Chrysanthemum, the Orchid, the bamboo, and the plum, and therefore only the upper class Chinese were permitted to grow them in their gardens.
