Flower looks like animal: Because the Strelitzia flower looks much like the head and beak of an exotic bird they are nicknamed The Bird of Paradise.
Noble flowers:The four noble plants of the ancient Chinese were the Chrysanthemum, the Orchid, the bamboo, and the plum, and therefore only the upper class Chinese were permitted to grow them in their gardens. Named for fighters: Gladiolus flowers got their name because the leaves of the plant were shaped like a sword and made them think of the Roman gladiators.
