Superstition and the Aster: The most popular of the 600 different species of the Aster is the Monte Carlo. People long ago thought they could drive away serpents with the odor it produced when they burned it.
Amount of water for roses:When roses have just been planted they should be watered daily to prevent wilting. If they have been growing in one spot for some time then they should be watered deeply once a week with one-inch or more of water. Beginning the rose garden: Early spring is the best time to put out roses grown in nursery containers and late winter is the best time to plant bare-root roses.
