Medicinal poinsettia: During the middle ages people used the poinsettia flower as a purgative to aid in the elimination of black bile and melancholy.

These flowers are described by botanists as being perfect, bisexual, or hermaphrodite. Flower looks like animal: Because the Strelitzia flower looks much like the head and beak of an exotic bird they are nicknamed The Bird of Paradise.
