Time to prune roses: Around March, just before the early spring growth begins, is the best time to prune the roses.
Named for fighters:Gladiolus flowers got their name because the leaves of the plant were shaped like a sword and made them think of the Roman gladiators. Planting roses: To plant roses which have been obtained from a nursery first water the rose, and then remove it from the pot. If the rose is in a paper pot cut off the bottom and remove the sidewalls so that the fine, new white feeder roots of the growing plant might be preserved.
